Police are investigating a fatal stabbing in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision in Pahoa.

Police are investigating a fatal stabbing in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision in Pahoa.

A 27-year-old Pahoa woman, Manaolanalani Lina Benford, was arrested at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, according to a police log. She has not yet been charged.

At 10:44 p.m., police and Fire Department personnel responded to a reported stabbing at a residence on Kawakawa Street.

Upon arrival, police found a 42-year-old man with stab wounds. Fire Department personnel took him to Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

At the scene, police arrested Benford on suspicion of second-degree murder. She is being held at the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continue the investigation.
